First things first…
I’m going to try to bring you up to date on Detex
Products and pricing.
Let’s start with the price book.
Beginning April 1, 2007 (good date – April fools day!) Detex
combined all products into one price book. No more
looking for “the Blue one” or “the Red one”.
However, it is real confusing when you first start to try
to price anything. The new price books starts with the
Advantex Exit Device line and there is method to that madness.
Detex wants more of you (the customer) to be aware that
they have an exit device.
You need to get to page 37 before you find the pricing for
the old security products like the ECL-230D.
If you’re looking for the familiar V40 x EB you need to go to page
24 to start your search and then get to page 27 to finish pricing
a V40 x EB or anything else.
You have to start with the basic device…the V40…
If you want to follow along it may be better for you to
go ahead and download a copy from our the Axent web
site and print it out. It is 60 pages so if you can print it
on both sides of the paper you’ll save some resources.
Adobe makes it pretty easy because it will let you print
all odd pages, forward or backward and then you can print
all even pages either forward or backward depending on
what type of printer you have. If you have one that duplexes
it’s really easy. If not, you’ll have to do some paper shuffling
to the feeder but it can be done quite easily. If you get
REALLY frustrated just print it on one side and put it in order.
Don’t drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. Now, go get
it and come back.
The standard aluminum (628) lists at $290.00 and the black (711)
lists at ten bucks more, $ 300.00. Next you add the “EB” option
from page 27 for $ 180.00 and there you have it! Total list price for
the exit only version at $ 470.00 list. Use your multiplier and you
now know your net cost. Now, wasn’t that easy?
While we’re here on the page for the “EB” Detex has made one
change that you need to know about. The latch bolt monitoring
switches are NOT standard any more. Look for the “LBM” option
and add $ 20.00 if your customer needs this option. There were
so many field errors due to lack of qualified installers that the switches
were removed to retain sanity from all the distress calls saying the
units were “defective” and “what template?” The trigger is now only
the push pad hitting the switch mounted on the slide in filler plate.
By the way, the older, newer model has an “EB” on the end of the
filler which tells you that the unit probably has the LBM switches and
the real old units were not marked at all, so, your on your own with
those units. (grin) The latest version that is now shipping has
an “EBB” (2-B’s) cast into the filler plate on the one that we reviewed
so that probably is the key to understanding that the latch bolt
monitoring is not in there. I’ll update you further as we learn more
here at our office. Some of this information appears to be guarded
secrets but we’ll share it openly with you as we hunt them down
and find those little Easter Eggs! (grin)
